Home birth after Cesarean

I was lucky enough to have Rene as my midwife. I was hoping for a HBAC (home birth after caesarean) and my NHS midwife had advised me that I would be referred to a consultant as I was deemed high risk (purely due to previous C section) and it was likely that they wouldn’t like my idea.

The whole thing felt very stressful, I knew what I wanted, I’d done my research, I was able to make an informed decision about it and I wanted to concentrate on maintaining a positive mind set about my pregnancy and birth.

From the moment that Rene took over my care, I knew I was in good hands. She won me over with her friendly, confident manner and I truly felt looked after and enjoyed every visit held in my living room, how wonderful it was to have everything done at home and to have time to chat too. Slowly trust was built and when my birthing time came, she was a quiet comforting presence gently encouraging and only doing minimal assessments as previously agreed. Thanks to my fantastic birthing team, I was able to have an incredible and straight forward pool birth with memories that make me smile. My baby has been the most easy going peaceful smiley baby, and I can’t help but think it’s related to the benefits of having such excellent continuity of care throughout. I whole heartedly recommend that if able, every pregnant women consider using a private midwife like Rene. It will set you up to make the most of what should be one of the most magical times of your life.
