It’s hard to put into words just how incredible my experience has been with Rene as my midwife. I met Rene when I was 36 weeks pregnant with my third child when the NHS suspended home birth services. I was panicking as I really wanted a home birth and I didn’t think I’d find a midwife so late on in my pregnancy. Rene came to my rescue and from our very first conversation I knew she was special and was so grateful to have found her. From the beginning, Rene just filled me with confidence and made me feel safe. She is so knowledgeable and experienced. We had many issues I had to talk through and overcome including a lot of pressure from the doctors not to have a home birth due to being 40 and to be induced in hospital if I was overdue (which I was). Despite all that, I just knew I wanted to be at home and Rene supported me fully.  We discussed everything at length and Rene just helped give me the confidence to trust my instinct and go with what was best for me.

My daughter’s birth was magical. I can honestly say she had the perfect birth. Who gets to say that?! But it’s true. A water birth at home was my dream and that’s exactly what I got. The whole labour Rene empowered me, never ‘taking over’ or telling me what to do but gently guiding me while making me feel fully in control and like I was the most incredible woman doing an amazing job birthing my baby. After she arrived Rene cared for us with such warmth and it was just the most wonderful experience for my husband and I.

Postnatally she was an incredible support giving me such practical and useful advice. She told me things I’d never been told before and explained everything so clearly. I found out new things despite having had 2 children before!

Rene is an incredible person and midwife. She held impeccable space for me to birth my baby in the way that was right for me. I will always be truly grateful to her and she’ll always be incredibly special to our family.
